NCT’s Voice Recognition Enhancer technology certified by TI as eXpressDSP™ compliant oice technology specialist, NCT, has today announced that its ClearSpeech Voice Recognition Enhancer product has passed the Texas Instruments Incorporated’s (TI) TMS320™ DSP Algorithm Compliance Tests for TI’s C55x architecture and has been accepted into TI’s eXpressDSP program. This brings the total number of NCT’s eXpressDSP compliant products to nine. As eXpressDSP compliant products, NCT’s technology is easier for customers to integrate into their systems, accelerating their time to market and helping them meet consumer expectations for high quality, mobile, speech recognition products. For customers wishing to evaluate this product, an executable for the TMS320C5510 DSP Starter Kit is available. Further details can be found on NCT’s website, www.nctclearspeech.com or can be obtained by contacting sales@nct.co.uk.
With the increasing expectations for speech recognition technologies for use in hands-free mobile voice communications and device control, the demand for advanced signal processing algorithms that can be rapidly integrated into existing and new product lines to improve recognition performance in noisy environments, has increased dramatically. NCT’s porting of its powerful ClearSpeech Voice Recognition Enhancer (VRE) technology to the eXpressDSP standard, represents an important stage in their efforts to make ClearSpeech readily available to the mobile speech recognition market.
The TMS320 DSP Algorithm Standard, defines a set of algorithm programming rules, coding conventions and application programming interfaces (APIs) for algorithm creators to use. By following these standards, algorithms can be easily integrated by OEMs across a wide range of products based on the same architecture, speeding the time to market.
“We are confident that by following TI’s Algorithm Standards, our customers will find it easier to implement our technology” said Dr Gillian Davis, Managing Director of NCT. “Our ClearSpeech Voice Recognition Enhancer product for the C55x architecture operates at 16kHz sampling rate, 10ms block length and can provide significant improvements in recognition performance. For the convenience of customers interested in communications between humans as well as with machines, VRE has a mode of operation for human listening that can provide up to 18dB of noise reduction.”
“We are enthusiastic about the benefits NCT’s new eXpressDSP compliant ClearSpeech Voice Recognition Enhancer brings to developers,” said John Dixon, worldwide C5000 DSP product marketing manager, TI. The enhancer should ease integration efforts, reduce time to market, and further enable the design of high quality mobile and automotive hands free speech recognition products.”
ClearSpeech is a suite of complex, highly refined software algorithms that provide noise cancellation for human listeners, noise cancellation for voice recognition, echo cancellation and signal conditioning. By removing background noise and voice echo, ClearSpeech is able to vastly improve voice quality in a diverse range of communication systems.
